This small mast is located in Norden, Rochdale, and is at NGR SD861142. It is run by Arqiva, and the radiated power is listed as just 12 watts.
This mast also hosts a couple of mobile phone aerials, and according to: http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/ they belong to 3 (Site no. OL0075 - UMTS), and Orange (Site no. GMN0065 - GSM & UMTS). Also on the mast are two white vertical antennas, which from all the 'close-call' hits I was getting appear to belong to a local Taxi MDT system.
This site is located inside the grounds of a school, so if you're planning a visit I would strongly recommend a weekend, or during the school holidays, as it might look suspicious if you are seen hanging around a school with your camera whilst the children are present. This is not the easiest site to get to, though as it is located right in the corner of the playing fields, you can get around the back thanks to a number of pathways that run straight past the site. These can be a bit difficult to find, but they do run between some of the houses and you should see them if you keep a good lookout. I was very fortunate in having a friend who lived nearby, and who was able to show me the way to the site (thanks Pedders!).

I like the old red phone box in the nearby garden, a nice contrast of old and new 650x867 norden4.jpg |
